Today I want to share with you another beautiful crochet Chevron (Zig-Zag) blanket tutorial. The pattern of this crochet blanket is really simple and beautiful at the same time.

🧶 Chevron (Zig-Zag) Crochet Blanket — Super Detailed Tutorial
📦 Materials:
- Worsted weight yarn (medium #4) — 2 colors (let’s say Color A: Yellow, Color B: White)
- 5.0 mm (H-8) crochet hook
- Scissors
- Yarn needle
📏 Pattern Setup:
Foundation chain:
Your starting chain must be a multiple of 12 + 3 extra chains.
👉 Example: 3 + (12 × 10) = 123 chains for a decent baby blanket width.
📖 Abbreviations (US Crochet Terms):
- ch = chain
- dc = double crochet
- st = stitch
- sk = skip
- rep = repeat
- ch-1 sp = chain-1 space
- sl st = slip stitch
🌸 Pattern Instructions
Row 1 (Setup row):
- Ch 123 (or any multiple of 12 + 3).
- Dc into the 4th chain from the hook (this counts as 2 dc in the same st since the skipped 3 ch is your first dc).
- Dc into the next 3 chains.
- Sk 2 chains (this creates the valley).
- Dc into the next 3 chains.
- In the next chain, work (2 dc, ch 1, 2 dc) (this is your peak).
- Repeat from Step 3 to 6 across the row.
- End the row with 2 dc in the last chain.
👉 Now you’ll see a wave-like first row forming.
Row 2:
- Ch 3 (counts as first dc), turn.
- Dc into the same stitch (first dc of the row).
- Dc into next 3 stitches.
- Sk 2 dc (skip the valley).
- Dc into next 3 dc.
- In the ch-1 space (from the peak of previous row), work (2 dc, ch 1, 2 dc).
- Repeat from Step 3 to 6 across the row.
- End with 2 dc into the top of the turning ch-3.
👉 Your chevron ridges are now really taking shape.

Row 3 and Beyond:
Repeat Row 2 instructions for every row.
🎨 Color Change:
- Work 2 rows of Color A (Yellow).
- On the last yarn over and pull through of the final dc of the 2nd row, drop Color A, pick up Color B (White), and complete the stitch.
- Ch 3 with new color, and continue following Row 2 pattern.
Repeat color pattern as you wish (2, 3, or 4 rows per color look great).
📌 Key Points:
- Peaks happen in the ch-1 space of the previous row’s peak.
- Valleys happen by skipping 2 dc stitches in the same place every row.
- Always count your stitches — every segment between valleys and peaks should have 3 dc.
🧵 Finishing:
- When it reaches the desired length, fasten off.
- Weave in all loose ends with a yarn needle.
- Optionally, add a simple single crochet border all around for a tidy finish.

✨ Example Color Pattern (for a baby blanket):
- 2 Rows Yellow
- 2 Rows White
- Repeat until desired length.
