Abbreviations (US Terminology):
– ch = chain
– sl st = slip stitch
– sc = single crochet
– dc = double crochet
– tr = treble crochet
– fpdc = front post double crochet
– cl = cluster (explained in the pattern)

🌸 Pattern Instructions 🌸


Round 1: Foundation (Flower Center)
1. Start with a magic ring (or ch 5, join with sl st to form a ring).
2. Ch 3 (counts as first dc), make 11 dc into the ring. (12 dc total)
3. Join with sl st to the top of the ch-3.

Round 2: Petal Formation
1. Ch 3 (counts as the first dc), fpdc around the next dc from the previous round.
2. DC in the next DC, FPDC around the next DC—repeat around.
3. Join with sl st. (You should have 12 dc and 12 fpdc alternately.)

Round 3: Cluster Petals
1. Sl st to first fpdc. Ch 2 (counts as the first part of the cluster).
2. (Yarn over, insert hook into the same stitch, pull up a loop, yarn over, pull through two loops) twice (creating a 3-dc cluster), ch 3, sl st into the same stitch.
3. Ch 2, move to the next fpdc, make a 3-dc cluster, ch 3, sl st into the same stitch—repeat around for 12 petal clusters.
4. The first to join. Fasten it off. (Flower center completed.)

Round 4: Turning into a Square
1. Attach a new color to any ch-3 space of a petal. Ch 3, (2 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) in the same space to form a corner.
2. Ch 1, 3 dc in next ch-3 space, ch 1, (3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) in next ch-3 space—repeat around.
3. Join with sl st at top of ch-3.

Round 5: Defining the Square
1. SLST to the next ch-2 corner space. Ch 3, (2 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) in the same space.
2. 3 dc in each side space (ch-1 from the previous round), (3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) in each corner ch-2 space—repeat around.
3. Join with sl st.

Round 6: Lacy Border (Optional)
1. SLST to the next ch-2 corner space. Ch 4 (counts as first tr): Make (2 tr, ch 2, 2 tr) in the same space.
2. Skip 2 stitches, sc in next st, skip 2 stitches, 5 dc in next st—repeat across the side.
3. In the corner ch-2 space (2 tr, ch 2, 2 tr), then continue repeating the pattern across the sides.
4. Join with sl st. Fasten off and weave in ends.
