๐ŸŒผ CROCHET FLOWER MESH STRIP โ€“ FULL DETAILED TUTORIAL

This pattern is made of tiny 4-petal flowers, worked one by one, and joined as you go to create the zig-zag layout.

โญ PART 1 โ€” Make 1 Basic Flower

1. Make center

  • Ch 5, join with sl st to make a ring.

2. Petal (repeat 4 times)

Inside the ring:

(Ch 3, 3 dc, ch 3, sl st in ring)

You now have 4 petals, a small square flower.

โญ PART 2 โ€” Make the 2nd Flower & Join It

1. Make the ring

  • Ch 5, join to form ring.

2. Petal 1

Work normally:

Ch 3, 3 dc, ch 3, sl st in ring.

3. Petal 2 (JOIN PETAL)

This petal connects to the first flower.

Do this:

Ch 3
Dc 1 into ring
Sl st into side of one petal of previous flower (join point)
Dc 2 into ring
Ch 3
Sl st into ring

4. Petals 3 & 4

Work normally (same as petal 1).

Now you have 2 flowers connected.

โญ PART 3 โ€” Make a Row of Flowers (Row 1)

Repeat the same steps to attach more flowers side-to-side.

Each new flower:

  • Petal 1 = normal
  • Petal 2 = join to previous flower
  • Petal 3 & 4 = normal

This makes a straight row of little flowers.

โญ PART 4 โ€” Start Row 2 (the zig-zag pattern)

This is where your photo shows the offset / staggered layout.

To add a flower between 2 flowers of Row 1:

New Flower Position

It must attach with 2 petals:

  • one to the flower on the left
  • one to the flower on the right

Steps

1. Make ring

  • Ch 5, join.

2. Petal 1

Normal petal.

3. Petal 2 โ€” JOIN to upper left flower

Ch 3
Dc 1
Sl st into left flower side
Dc 2
Ch 3
Sl st into ring

4. Petal 3 โ€” JOIN to upper right flower

Same joining method:

Ch 3
Dc 1
Sl st into right flower side
Dc 2
Ch 3
Sl st to ring

5. Petal 4

Normal.

โญ PART 5 โ€” Continue Row 2

Each flower of row 2:

  • 1st petal = normal
  • 2nd petal = join to flower above-left
  • 3rd petal = join to flower above-right
  • 4th petal = normal

Follow this pattern until the end of the strip.

Your crochet now looks EXACTLY like the image.

โญ PART 6 โ€” Start Row 3

Row 3 works exactly like Row 2 but shifted:

Each flower joins:

  • petal 2 โ†’ to row 2 flower on the left
  • petal 3 โ†’ to row 2 flower on the right

This creates the mesh of diamonds.

โญ TROUBLESHOOTING / TIPS

๐Ÿ”ธ Where to join?

Join into the side chain space of the petal:
Insert your hook into:

  • The side of the petal, not the top
  • Usually into the side ch-3 space

๐Ÿ”ธ Why does mine twist?

Keep tension soft and block lightly.

๐Ÿ”ธ How to keep alignment straight?

Make sure each new flower joins to two flowers above, not one.
