Here is how to make the small yarn flower ornaments shown on the Christmas tree.
The picture on the right shows a comb weaving / fork weaving method to create tiny puffed flowers.

SUPER DETAILED YARN FLOWER ORNAMENT TUTORIAL (Using a Comb)

These flowers are sometimes called “comb flowers / fork flowers / loop flowers”.
They are easy and perfect for Christmas tree decorations.

🧵 What You Need

  • Plastic comb (normal or wide-tooth)
  • Yarn (acrylic or cotton)
  • Scissors
  • Small yarn needle (optional)

🌼 Step 1: Position the Yarn on the Comb

  1. Hold the comb horizontally.
  2. Leave a yarn tail of about 10–15 cm.
  3. Insert the yarn from back to front between two teeth in the middle of the comb.
  4. Pull the yarn over the top and behind again — this locks the yarn so it doesn’t slip.

You now have yarn anchored to the comb.

🌼 Step 2: Start Making Petal Loops

  1. Bring the yarn to the left side of the anchor tooth.
  2. Loop it around the teeth so the yarn goes:
    • Front → Back → Front
  3. Move to the right side and wrap again the same way.
  4. Continue alternating left → right → left → right.

👉 Wrap 8–12 times on each side depending on how full you want the petals.

This creates all the loops that become the flower petals.

🌼 Step 3: Tie the Flower Center

This is the MOST IMPORTANT step.

  1. Cut a small piece of yarn (about 10 cm).
  2. Slide this short piece under the loops right at the center tooth gap.
  3. Bring both ends upward to the front.
  4. Pull tight and tie a double-knot.
  5. Flip the comb and tie the back side as well for extra security.

Now your loops are secured in the middle.

🌼 Step 4: Remove Flower from Comb

  1. Hold the tied center with your fingers.
  2. Carefully slide all loops upward out of the comb teeth.
  3. Don’t pull too hard — keep the loops even.

You now have a fluffy bow-like bundle.

🌼 Step 5: Shape the Flower

  1. Spread the loops into 5 equal sections (or 6 if you want).
  2. Use your fingers to open and fluff each group — these are the petals.
  3. Pull gently to round the flower.

It should start looking like the flowers hanging on the Christmas tree in the picture.

🌼 Step 6: Clean Up

  1. Trim any long ends.
  2. Hide knots inside the petals (optional).
  3. If you want to hang them:
    • Tie a small string on the back
    • Or glue a small loop

🌼 OPTIONAL: Add a Center Decoration

You can customize the flower by adding:

  • Small bead
  • Button
  • Mini pom-pom
  • Crochet circle (Magic ring, 6 sc)

Sew or glue to the center.
