DIAGONAL PUFF STITCH – FULL DETAILED TUTORIAL (US TERMS)

This pattern has 2 repeating rows:

  • Row A = Puff row
  • Row B = Diagonal crossed row

MATERIALS

  • Yarn: Medium / worsted (No. 4)
  • Hook: 4.0–5.0 mm
  • Scissors
  • Yarn needle

STITCH GUIDE (VERY IMPORTANT)

Double Crochet (dc)

  1. Yarn over
  2. Insert hook into stitch
  3. Yarn over, pull up loop (3 loops on hook)
  4. Yarn over, pull through 2 loops
  5. Yarn over, pull through last 2 loops

Puff Stitch (5-loop puff)

  1. Yarn over
  2. Insert hook into stitch
  3. Yarn over, pull up loop
  4. Repeat steps 1–3 4 more times (11 loops on hook total)
  5. Yarn over, pull through all loops
  6. Ch 1 to close puff

👉 Keep loops tall and loose


FOUNDATION

  1. Make a slip knot
  2. Chain an EVEN number
    • Example: ch 26
  3. Do NOT twist the chain

ROW 1 (Base Row)

  1. Insert hook into 2nd chain from hook
  2. Sc in each chain across
  3. Ch 1
  4. Turn work

ROW 2 – PUFF ROW (Texture Row)
